Driver’s timely action saves bus passengers
Maredumilli (Alluri Sitarama Raju District), October 20: A driver’s timely action saved the lives of 36 passengers after the bus brakes suddenly failed while going on a ghat road. 
 
Kakinada depot bus started from Bhadrachalam to Kakinada on Wednesday morning. When the bus reached Maredumilli-Chinturu ghat road of Alluri Sitara Raju district, bus driver Subba Rao noticed that the brakes were not functioning. He immediately alerted another driver and 36 passengers. After taking two dangerous turns on the ghat road, without a choice the driver wantonly hit the roadside hill. 
 
With this, the front portion of the bus crashed into the hill and the driver’s legs were jammed. Six passengers received minor injuries. 
 
Maredumilli police and others rushed to the spot and removed the bus and rescued the driver.
