Vizag airport violence: Two CIs sacked

Visakhapatnam, October 19: Two Circle Inspectors PVSN Krishna Rao (Kancharapalem station) and Umakanth (airport station) were sacked. The duo was on security duty at the airport on October 15, when State Ministers visited Vizag to participate in Visakha Garjana.

The two CIs were transferred. They were not given any posting but sent to ‘vacancy reserve’. They were surrendered from Visakha Police Commissionerate to Visakha range. The transfer orders were issues on Tuesday afternoon and new CIs took charge by the evening of the same day.

The sudden action by the government against the two CIs has created buzz among police circles. Clashes took place at Vizag airport when the duo were on duty and cases were booked.

It should be reminded here that when Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan came to the airport, his followers came to meet him. At the same time, when Ministers landed and the situation became tense.

It was alleged that CIs Krishna Rao and Umakanth were sacked due to their failure in security duty. But, police higher officials said that the two CIs were transferred as they are working for long, but not for failing in security duty at the airport.
