47 candidates in Munugode bypoll fray
Munugode, October 18: Finally, 47 candidates are left in the Munugode bypoll fray.
A total of 130 candidates have filed nominations, out of which 47 were rejected. 36 candidates have withdrawn their nominations on Monday, leaving 47 to vie for the bypoll.
Each EVM can cater to 16 candidates only. Hence, three EVMs would be arranged at each polling booth since there are 47 candidates, informed Nalgonda District Collector Vinay Kirshna Reddy. Candidate’s name, poll symbol and their photos also will be in EVMs. There will be one Nota symbol for three EVMs.
The 47 candidates include TRS, BJP, Congress and BSP and also other parties and independents. Returning Officer Jagannatha Rao had allotted election symbols to independent candidates on Monday night.
TRS already requested the Election Commission not to allot truck, tractor, road roller and other symbols which looks alike their symbol car. Hence these symbols were not allotted to anyone.
Three candidates appealed for roadroller symbol. After taking lottery, this symbol was allotted to Sivakumar Kolishetty of Yugatulasi party. KA Paul was allotted ring symbol, who is contesting the bypoll as independent candidate.
