Heroines’ posters to ‘ward off evil eye’

Madanapalle, October 14: Everyone changes with time and leaves old methods and adopt new ones. This applies to agriculture also.

Normally, farmers put up scarecrows filled with straw in the middle of the fields to scare away birds and also to ward of evil eye to protect their crops. But the farmers in Annamayya district thought of novel idea. Tomato is the main crop in Madanapalle in the district.

Malreddy took up tomato cultivation in his half acre land in Reddyvaripalle, Tamballapalle mandal. The plants grew tall attracting the passersby. The farmer feared that the crop may get damaged due to the evil eye. Hence, he put up big flexis of heroines Tamanna, Rashi Khanna and others on the four sides of his fields.

Likewise, another farmer Leelamma of Dadamvaripalle, Kurabalakota mandal, also set up posters of various heroines to divert public attention from her marigold and tomato crops.
