Bank manager commits suicide unable to recover loans
Yanam, October 12: Under pressure for not being able to recover loans given to customers, a 33-year-old bank manager committed suicide in Yanam.
According to police, Sairatna Srikanth was working as a manager in a private bank in Yanam. Earlier he worked as manager in Machilipatnam branch for three years. During this time, he sanctioned loans to customers as per the higher officials directives. As the customers didn’t repay the loans they have taken, Srikanth took about Rs 60 lakh loan and he cleared the loans. Later he was transferred to Yanam. It came to know that here also he took another Rs 37 lakh.
On Tuesday morning, when Srikanth’s wife Gayatri took the children to school, he committed suicide by hanging to the fan. When he didn’t answer the door, Gayatri peeped through window and saw him hanging from fan. Locals broke open the doors and rushed him to hospital, where doctors declared as brought him dead.
Gayatri said that her husband was always under severe pressure regarding his duties. “My husband assured me that all our problems will get solved soon on Monday night. But ended his life,” she lamented.
