NCW chief asks AP DGP to file a case on Srikalahasti incident

Amaravati, October 5: Acting on complaint of TDP Women Wing president Vangalapudi Anitha, National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Rekha Sharma wrote to Andhra Pradesh DGP Kasi Reddy Rajendranath Reddy seeking to take action on Srikalahasti incident.

Few days ago, Srikalahasti CI Anju Yadav thrashed wife of an accused and forcibly took her to police station. The video of CI assaulting the woman had gone viral on social media and attracted criticism from several quarters. The TDP leader posted a tweet to the NCW along with the video.

Taking serious note of the incident, NCW chief directed the DGP to register a FIR against cops involved in attacking woman by name Dhanalakshmi. Further, she instructed time-bound probe into the incident and provide free medical treatment to the victim in the hospital.

Meanwhile, ASP Vimala Kumari questioned the CI on the directions of SP. Anju Yadav informed the ASP that she did not thrash the woman. “In turn, victim levelling false allegations on me,” she mentioned.
