CM Jagan grants Rs 1 cr for treatment of a girl

Amalapuram, October 3: In a kind gesture, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has granted Rs 1 crore towards medical treatment to a 2.5 year old girl, Honey. She has been suffering with Gaucher’s disease.

The girl’s parents Rambabu and Nagalakshmi of Nakka Rameswaram village of Konaseema district have two children. Rambabu runs government ration vehicle while Nagalakshmi is a daily labourer. Their daughter Honey has the rare disease and has to be administered Serijyme injection worth Rs 1.25 lakh for every 15 days. This injection manufacturing company in America is giving the injection for Rs 74,000 after discount, which the poor family couldn’t bear.

During Jagan’s tour to Konaseema districts on July 26, the parents displayed a placard, seeking medical assistance to their daughter, near helipad. Jagan listened to their plight and assured of help and directed District Collector Himanshu Shukla to take steps in this regard.

Initially, 13 injections at a cost of Rs 10 lakh were brought to Amalapuram Government Hospital and steps were taken to bring another 52 injections worth Rs 40 lakh. The first injection was given to baby Honey on Sunday. Collector Shukla informed the girl’s parents that the government will provide education, nutritious food and pension also. He gave them the medicine kit to the parents.
