Data theft: AP Assembly panel seeks Google help to track servers

Amaravati, September 20: The House Committee constituted to probe data theft in previous TDP rule tabled its 85-page interim report in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. The panel found that information was stolen from State Data Centre and the same was transferred to various servers with unknown IP addresses.

Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, who heads the House committee, wrote a letter to the Google to identify the location of servers based on IP addresses. However, Google authorities informed the panel that they cannot identify IP addresses even though they belong to them. Tech giant also adviced the Assembly committee to send an e-mail to their legal wing to proceed further on the issue.

After analysing the logs of all servers, AP’s Intelligence Department found that data was stolen from 18 State Data Centres from November 30, 2018, to March 31, 2019, according to the report submitted to the House.
