Delhi liquor scam: ED grills businessman Vennamaneni

Hyderabad, September 20: Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials have conducted raids in Hyderabad and grilled noted businessman Vennamaneni Srinivasa Rao for about seven hours at their office on Monday. They conducted raids on the resident and office of Vennamaneni at Banjara Hils and IT companies in Ramanthapur and Madapur.
 
The ED officials had searched the residences and offices of Arun Ramachandran Pillai, who was alleged as 14th accused in the Delhi liquor scam, along with the houses of Boyinipalli Abhishek Rao and Gandra Premsagar Rao, who were directors in Robin Distilleries, and auditor Buchibabu. Based on the evidenced found during these raids, the ED focused on Vennamaneni.
 
Vennamaneni Srinivasa Rao had several businesses and invested in granite business in Karimnagar and sand quarries in Warangal and Khammam districts. Besides, he is a realtor in Hyderabad and had close relations with several political leaders in the State. 
 
Also, Srinivasa Rao is brother-in-law as per relation to Robin Distilleries Director Premsagar Gandra. Hence, ED sleuths came to a conclusion that huge amounts of cash was paid from low level to Delhi liquor contracts.
 
It came to know that the liquor case is in final stage. The ED officials are likely to issue notices to several prominent people soon.
