Seven killed in fire mishap in Secunderabad
Hyderabad, September 13: Seven persons including a woman died in a fire accident in an electric vehicle showroom in Secunderabad on Monday night. Three persons died on the spot due to asphyxiation while another four died in hospital. Another 10 persons were severely injured.
The deceased were identified as A Harish of Vijayawada, Sitaraman of Chennai and Veetendra of Delhi.
The details of the incident that took place in Monda Market police station limits are as follows. Ruby electric vehicle showroom has been running in ground floor and cellar in the five-floor building – Ruby Luxury Pride near Passport office in Secunderabad. A hotel was running in the remaining four floors. At around 9.40 pm on Monday, flames raised in ground floor and due to the heat, the batteries of the electric vehicles exploded, spreading the fire to top floors. Thick smoke engulfed the entire building.
Police vacated people from the nearby buildings suspecting fire might spread to them. Two fire tenders from nearby fire stations began rescue operation.
It was said that there were 25 guests in the lodge which has 23 rooms. Some persons fell unconscious on the corridor and rooms due to asphyxiation. Three persons were severely injured while trying to escape.
The injured were rushed to Gandhi Hospital. Doctors said their condition was critical due to more burn injuries.
Immediately after getting information, Ministers Mahamood Ali and Talasani Srinivas Yadav and MLA Sayanna rushed to the spot and monitored the rescue operation. City Police Commissioner CP Anand, Fire department additional DGP Sanjay Kumar Jain and DCP Chandana Deepthi inspected the spot.
