KGBV student dies after complaining headache

Kagaznagar, September 8: Eighth class student of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Asifabad district died in her sleep in the early hours of Wednesday. 
 
According to the police and family members, Aishwarya (14) was the eldest daughter of Shankar, a farmer, and Neelabai of Ankusapur. She suffered from severe headache and fever on Tuesday evening. Students informed about this to a teacher, who in turn told higher officials. They suggested to apply zandu balm and to sleep.
 
On Wednesday morning, Aishwarya’s friends found her in unconscious stage with foam coming from her nose and mouth. She was rushed to a private hospital in Kagaznagar where doctors announced that she was already dead. 
 
Meanwhile, the girl’s parents and relatives staged a protest alleging that the girl died to the negligence of the hostel staff. She might have survived if only treatment provided to her in time, they pointed out. They staged a sit in protest for about eight hours in the school premises and even tried to attack the staff.
 
Police controlled the protestors. District Additional Collector Rajesham and DEO Ashok assured the parents that they will conduct a thorough probe into the issue. They announced suspension of SO, ANM and the teacher on duty. The officials extended Rs 50,000 immediate financial help to the victim’s family. The protestors withdrew their agitation after the officials assured of providing outsourcing job to one of the family members.
