Polavaram project: Minister Buggana seeks Centre’s handhold
Vijayawada, September 4: The Andhra Pradesh government sought the continuous support of the Centre for completing Polavaram project early. It also stated that the Centre’s support is needed since it was declared as national project in State bifurcation act.
Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath and Forests and Mines Minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy along with officials participated in a meeting with Central Home Minister Amit Shah at Tiruvananthapuram on Saturday.
Minister Rajendranath said that the State is incurring heavy loss as several problems are not yet solved even seven years of State bifurcation. He requested Minister Amit Shah to establish an administrative committee for taking decisions on pending issues of State bifurcation and for their implementation.
He further asked to solve the pending issues at the earliest; sanctioning of Rs 25,000 crore package for seven districts on the lines of Bundelkhand package, based on inflation and population; and support as per PMKSY guidelines for Rayalaseema drough relief project and north Andhra Sujala Sravanthi projects, which will provide water and jobs.
