2 women die after family planning surgery failed in Ibrahimpatnam
Hyderabad, August 30: Two women died while two others condition are in critical condition after family planning surgery failed.
Family planning operation was performed for 34 women at government civil hospital in Ibrahimpatnam on August 25. Of this, two women died on Sunday and Monday. Mamatha (Narsaipalli, Madgula mandal), Meravath Mounika (Rajivnagar Thanda), Sushma (Lingampalli, Manchala mandal) and Lavanya (Sitarampet, Ibrahimpatnam) had suffered vomiting and motions on August 27. They were admitted in private hospitals and doctors observed that their blood pressure was abnormally low. Mamatha (32) died on Sunday evening while Sushma (28) died on Monday morning.
Lavanya and Mounika are undergoing treatment in a hospital and officials said that they are in a very critical condition. Mamahta had two children.
The government announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the family of the deceased and ordered a detailed probe into the incident. Health Director Dr G Srinivas Rao was appointed as the enquiry officer and ordered to submit report within one week.
Meanwhile, the family members and relatives of the deceased and villagers staged rasta roko on Ibrahimpatnam – Sagar highway, alleging that the two women died due to doctors’ negligence. Leaders of Congress, BJP, TDP and CPM extended support to the agitators. The leaders demanded Rs 25 lakh compensation, job to each victim’s family, two bedroom house and free education to the children.
After the officials assured of providing Rs 5 lakh compensation, double bedroom house and free education, the agitators withdrew their protest.
