Supreme Court serves notice to producers of Balakrishna film

Delhi, August 29: The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to Tollywood producers Y. Rajeev Reddy and Jagarlamudi Saibabu for not reducing ticket prices of Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Gautamiputra Satakarni despite getting tax exemption from the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments.

In 2017, the film was released in theatres and registered a decent success. Shriya Saran played a female lead and senior Bollywood actress Hema Malini as Balakrishna’s mother. After hearing arguments over a petition for not passing the benefits of the tax exemption to the moviegoers, Justice Chandrachud-led Bench issued notices to producers, Telangana and AP governments. The petitioner also urged the apex court to recover money which they have benefitted through tax concession.

Supporting roles in the flick are played by Kabir Bedi, Milind Gunaji, David Manucharov, Farah Karimaee, and Ravi Prakash. Gautamiputra Satakarni was written and directed by Krish and music composed by Chirantan Bhatt. Camera for the movie handled by V.S. Gnana Shekar.
