Landlord attacks tenant for not paying rent in AP
Poranki, August 25: A landlord, Kilaru Chakravarthy, attacked the management of a corporate college in Poranki in Krishna district on Wednesday for not paying rent. Students and teaching staff became panic and ran hither and thither. The followers of the landlord locked the mess gates. Students informed that the followers even attacked police, who came to rescue them.
Students and staff broke the locks of the gate and came out. But a few of them were injured when the landlord’s followers attacked them. When all the students and staff fought back, the landlord went away from there.
The participation of YSRCP Penamaluru mandal president Chakravarthy and his brother Kilaru Srinivasa Rao in the attack became controversial.
College Principal Y Mahesh said that they had an agreement with the landlord till May 23, 2023 and they have been paying rent on time.
Meanwhile, landlord Kilaru Chakravarthy alleged that the college management has to pay Rs 5 crore rent and dues of service tax. He said that the college management was not responding to their request either to pay rent or to vacate the building. He further pointed out that the college management had attacked him when he along with his relatives went to the college on Wednesday.
