Midnight tension in Hyderabad old city
Hyderabad, August 24: Protests are continuing in the old city in Hyderabad following Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh's remarks against Prophet Mohammed. As part of disciplinary action, BJP suspended the MLA. In a dramatic way, youth in large numbers took to the roads on Tuesday at midnight and staged protests.
The youth in large numbers gathered at Charminar. Earlier they burnt the effigy of Raja Singha at Shalibanda and demanded that the police should arrest him. High tension prevailed when the agitators burnt a police vehicle in Moghulpura.
Police dispersed the agitators. After police personnel convinced, the agitators left the place.
Again the situation became tense at Charminar on Wednesday morning as youth gathered near Charminar. Police closed the road from the old city to Gosha Mahal and strengthened security arrangements.
Meanwhile, agitators staged a dharna at Chatri Bridge in Begum Bazar, demanding the arrest of Raja Singh.
