Students made to do 200 sit-ups for not wearing two braids
Jadcherla, August 5: About 50 girl students were forced to do 120 to 200 sti-ups for not wearing two braids by PET Swetha. The incident took place in a minority residential girls school in Kaveramma Peta of Jadcherla town in Mahabubnagar district. Though the incident took place on Wednesday and came to light on Thursday.
All the 50 students fell sick and are unable to walk. A few of them got fever also. The teachers tried hard to avoid the information from leaking. The teachers provided basic medical treatment to them and locked all the girls in the sick room.
When the temperature of 20 students was increased on Thursday afternoon, they were taken to an urban health centre and primary treatment was provided.
Meanwhile, some of the students unable to bear the pain, informed their parents over phone. Parents rushed to the school and staged dharna. The school teachers didn’t allow media.
School principal Kalpana, who was on leave, came to know about the incident. She came to the school and tried to evade the entire episode as ‘nothing but a trivial’ matter. Even Gurukul RLC Zameer Ahmed also reportedly stated that it was nothing. But as per the orders of senior officials, PET Swetha, who is working on contract basis, is being suspended, he informed.
