No complete proposal received for shifting HC from Amaravati to Kurnool: Centre

Delhi, August 4: Giving a reply to a question asked by TDP MP Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said that the Central government did not receive complete proposal from the Andhra Pradesh government for shifting principal seat of High Court from Amaravati to Kurnool.

Kiren Rijiju stated that the AP government and High Court have to submit a complete proposal to the Government of India expressing willingness to shift High Court from Amaravati. He mentioned that the Law Ministry received a proposal from the AP CM in February 2020 for moving principal seat of High Court to Kurnool.

Law Minister once again reiterated that the AP government has to meet the expenditure for running the High Court. He indirectly made it clear that the Centre will not bear burden of constructing new High Court in Kurnool. He further said that the chief justice is responsible for day-to-day administration of the High Court
