Fearing wild boar attack, 500 cows jump into reservoir
Nandyal, July 23: Hundreds of cows jumped into Telugu Ganga reservoir after frightened by wild boars. The incident took place in Velugodu of Nandyal district on Friday. Fishermen rescued about 400 cattle, while another 50 are missing.
Pedda Swamy, Mallaiah, Shankar, Bala Lingam and others of Velugodu will graze about 1,000 cows. On Friday morning, they took the cattle near the plain ground beside Telugu Ganga reservoir. Meanwhile, a group of wild boars came running towards the cattle. The cows became panic and about 500 cows went to the reservoir bund. 50 cows ran into the forest, while another 450 cattle jumped into the reservoir.
With the help of fishermen, the owners went into the reservoir on countrymade boats and putti and brought the cattle to the shore.
Police personnel also went into the reservoir on putti and helped in rescuing the cows.
