Dhoni retires from Test cricket
Melbourne, Dec 30: Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday announed his retirement from Test cricket with immediate effect.
He announced his decision soon after India drew the third Test in Melbourne on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a BCCI press release said that “One of India's greatest Test captains under whose leadership India became the No.1 team in the Test rankings MS Dhoni, has decided to retire from Test cricket citing the strain of playing all formats of cricket."
Dhoni will however concentrate on ODI and T20 formats.
BCCI said in the press release that Virat Kohli will be the captain of the Indian team for the fourth and final test against Australia in Sydney from January 6th, 2015.
Dhoni has played 90 Tests for India, scoring 4,876 runs and was instrumental in taking the Indian team to the top of Test rankings.
