Miscreants open fire at lorry driver on ORR

Hyderabad, July 17: Miscreants struck at ORR when they opened fire on a lorry driver on Saturday night.

Manoj Yadav, native of Jharkhand, was going to Kochi, Kerala, with iron load from Medak. When the lorry reached Tukkuguda exit 14 on Saturday night, an unknown person, who has been following the lorry in a Swift car, fired one round on the lorry driver.

However, the driver escaped without bullet injury. Lorry glass panes were broken. Lorry driver informed the police about the incident through dial 100.

Police are suspecting the inter-State robbery gang behind the incident. Three teams were set up to nab the accused.

Earlier also, robbers from Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh targeted lorries and containers transporting expensive goods on ORR. They will threaten drivers or even kill them.

Recently, Rachakonda police arrested a thieves gang, who stopped lorries transporting lorry tyres and soaps, and decamped with the material.

A police official said that the same gangs might have resorted to this crime and noted that the miscreant might have fled towards Warangal after the incident.
