Crops, orchards in AP Capital villages set ablaze by miscreants

Guntur,Dec 29, 2014: Leaving tears to hundreds of farmers, some unidentified miscreants set ablaze banana crops, dry grass heaps, vegetable orchards and thatched houses in several villages and hamlets in the AP capital region of Tulluru in the wee hours of Monday. At dawn, people were shocked to find fire and smoke billowing out in the fields of Penumaka, Undavalli, Venkaapalem, Uddandarayuni Palem , Mandadam and some other villages which are refusing to dispense with their lands for the construction of Capital city. A group of 20 to 30 persons were reportedly involved in the dastardly crime. Angry farmers said miscreants have resorted to this act unable to face them directly. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu , who expressed shock over the incident , spoke to the District Collector and sought a report. He also directed the Collector to nab the culprits immediately.
