Nellore: 8 fall sick after inhaling toxic gas at Emami Agrotech in Krishnapatnam

Nellore, July 1: Eight workers fell sick after inhaling poisonous gas at Emami Agrotech in Krishnapatnam on Thursday night. They were rushed to a private hospital for medical treatment. Four out of eight victims are stated to be critical.
 
According to reports, palm oil factories located at Krishnapatnam port import edible oil from foreign countries. These factories process edible oil into refined oil. The edible oil leaked while dumping is cleaned once in two or three months.
 
Four workers were engaged in cleaning of leaked edible oil on the premises of the Emami Agrotech. A toxic gas emanated as oil was mixed with mud during the cleaning. They shouted for help. Other four labourers, who were near to the site, came to their rescue. Even, they too fell sick.
