Coma patient’s jewellery missing, family complains

Nizamabad, June 28: An incident where a private hospital staff steals gold ornaments of a coma patient in Nizamabad came late into light. 
 
According to sources, an elderly woman Lakshmi was admitted in Manorama private hospital in Nizamabad. She went into coma after sugar levels have increased drastically. Lakshmi was wearing gold ornaments when she was admitted in the hospital, but they were missing at the time of her discharge.
 
Her family members observed the missing jewellery and informed Health Minister T Harish Rao. When senior officials questioned, the hospital management checked CCTV cameras footage and identified that the hospital staff have stolen the gold ornaments. The hospital management assured of returning the gold ornaments within two weeks and even gave a written agreement. But after a few days, the hospital management announced that it had nothing to do with the missing jewellery.
 
With this, the patient’s family members complained to the District Collector during Prajavani programme and also to the police. 
 
The family members alleged that the hospital had already collected Rs 4 lakh for the treatment, but failed in safeguarding the patient’s gold jewellery.
