Police raid workshop manufacturing weapon parts, bullets in Vijayawada

Hyderabad, Dec 27: Ellur police on Saturday raided a workshop named Lakshmidurga Engineering Works at the famous Autonagar on the outskirts of Vijayawada and recovered a cache of various weapon parts and bullets. It may be recalled that West Godavari police had arrested a BTech student named Sharath Reddy belonging to Nellore while he was on his way to supply weapons to naxals. Following interrogation, he revealed that the weapons were being manufactured in Vijayawada and he was supplying weapons as a courier to the naxals. Based on these inputs, police launched investigations and zeroed in on Lakshmidurga Engineering Works. When police interrogated the owners and others in Autonagar, it was revealed that the workshop promoters accepted that they were manufacturing springs for a client but they did not know that they were meant for use in weapons.
