Want to marry at Yadagirigutta temple? Submit marriage registration certificate
Hyderabad, Dec 27: The Yadagirigutta temple administration proposes to perform marriages in the temple from 2015. However, there is a twist to the proposal.
The administration is demanding that the couple who wants to marry there must submit a marriage registration certificate issued by a sub-registrar.
This rule has stirred up a storm.
Legal experts are slamming it saying the new rule is not “legally valid”. They say temples do not have the authority or power to deny performing marriages of consenting majors.
They, however, clarify that the temple authorities have the right to seek birth certificates of the willing couples to check whether they have attained majority or not.
