Centre introduced 'Agnipath' scheme to divert attention of people, alleges KTR

Hyderabad: Protests are going on across the country over the Agnipath scheme brought in by the BJP government at the Centre. It is learnt that political parties on Monday called for a Bharat bandh in protest against the Centre. Minister for IT and Municipal Administration Kalvakuntla Tarakarama Rao made sensational remarks in this regard.

KTR has expressed anger over the remarks of BJP leaders on the issue of Agniveers. The Union Minister said they could be employed as drivers, electricians and barbers. Another BJP leader said they would be deployed as security guards. Are you blaming the youth again for not understanding Prime Minister Modi? Did you bring the Agnipath scheme to divert the attention of people from the Sri Lankan allegations against the Modi-Adani nexus? He posed questions on his Twitter handle.

It may be recalled that the Agnipath scheme was introduced by the Centre on June 14 for the recruitment of soldiers below the rank of commissioned officers into the three services of the armed forces. The Agnipath scheme will be the only route for recruitment into the military. Personnel recruited under this system are to be called Agniveers, which will be a new military rank.  The introduction of the scheme has been criticised for lack of consultation and public debate. The scheme is scheduled to be implemented from September 2022.

This scheme will bypass many things, including long tenures, pension and other benefits which were there in the old system. Opposition parties criticised and expressed concerns about the consequences of the new scheme. They asked the scheme to be put on hold and that the scheme be discussed in Parliament.
