Secunderabad Rly station violence: police confirm role of army coaching centres

Hyderabad, June 20: Youth had attacked Secunderabad railway station after they were provoked by the management of a few coaching centres that train youth aspiring for army jobs, stated railway SP Anuradha. The protestors vandalized the station by entering the station from three sides with a pacca plan, she added.
 
Briefing the media on Sunday night, the SP said so far 46 persons were arrested and confirmed that all those participated in the violence were trained candidates for army jobs. Evidences about the involvement of coaching centres’ management are being collected.
 
She said the case was transferred to city police due to police firing, disturbance to peace and police firing. One person died in police firing while another 12 were undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital. Nine railway police were injured in stone pelting, she said.
 
The SP said that as many as 100 railway police, who were on duty, tried to stop the protestors, but in vain. It took one hour time to deploy additional forces, and meanwhile the protestors damaged railway property, she added.
 
Railway SP Anuradha explained, “A railway station in Bihar was attacked on June 15 opposing Agnipath. The management of training institutes provoked the candidates that they can express their anguish by attacking Central government offices in the State.” The protestors shared information through WhatsApp about their plan and reached Secunderabad railway station on June 16th night. Police are suspecting that the protestors  were provided food and accommodation near the station and searching for the providers.
