Secunderabad: Student died in police firing at railway station identified

Hyderabad, June 17: The police identified the student died in firing as Damera Rakesh. He belongs to Dabeerpet village in Khanapur mandal in Warangal district. Rakesh took training to join Army with his sister’s encouragement. His sister Sangeetha is currently posted as BSF jawan in West Bengal. 
 
Rakesh’s family members and relatives were shocked on hearing his death news. He was one among hundreds of agitators, who participated in protest opposing newly introduced Agnipath Scheme. They have been demanding the Central government to complete Army recruitment process which was stopped due to pandemic for the last three years.
 
Rakesh was immediately rushed to the Gandhi Government Hospital after he was hit with a bullet. He died while undergoing treatment. Eight others, who were injured in firing, are admitted to the Gandhi Hospital. Protesters want an assurance from the Centre that they will complete the Army recruitment. They are strongly opposing new scheme.
