KCR to ‘skip’ Mamata’s meet on Prez poll

Hyderabad, June 15: TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is not attending the meeting convened by his counterpart of West Bengal and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee in Delhi to discuss about Presidential election on Wednesday. Also, he is not sending anyone to represent the party.

KCR reportedly took the decision as Congress also attending the meeting despite his request to Mamata not to invite the Congress.

After an elaborate discussion with party leaders in Hyderabad on Tuesday, KCR mentioned four reasons for his decision not to attend the meeting. They are, TRS has been avoiding both BJP and Congress for the past eight years; Rahul Gandhi’s severe criticism on the TRS government during his recent Telangana tour; Congress colluding with BJP to defeat TRS candidate in Huzurabad by-election; and improper way of the conduct of the meeting. KCR reasoned that in the context of these reasons, wrong signals will go into the public if he attends the Opposition meeting.

Meanwhile, TRS is considering holding a meeting on June 21 or 22 at Telangana Bhavan, Hyderabad, as part of launching new national party. CM KCR will take a final decision in a couple of days, who already decided to launch the new national party in the name of Bharath Rajya Samithi.
