Bus fare hike: Telangana BJP chief Bandi placed under house arrest

Hyderabad, June 10: In order to prevent Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay from participating in the stir opposing hike in TSRTC ticket prices, the police placed him under house arrest on Friday. The BJP gave a call to statewide protest against increase in RTC bus fares.

Bandi Sanjay was supposed to sit in dharna in front of the Jubilee Bus Stand in Secunderabad today. He alleged that the TRS government has burdened the common man with bus fare hike. In the visuals, police personnel were seen surrounding the house of Bandi Sanjay.

The BJP slammed the ruling state government for increasing bus charges five times in the last three years. The saffron party condemned the KCR government for putting Bandi under house arrest. Is it crime in democracy to stage a peaceful protest, the leaders asked?

Meanwhile, the BJP chief condemned the arrest of party leader Jitta Balakrishna Reddy. The police said FIR was registered against Jitta making him responsible to a skit performed mocking Telanagana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
