Ailing boy dies after police stop car for challan
Yadagirigutta, June 1: A boy died due to delay in reaching hospital after police stopped the vehicle for about an hour. The incident took place in Vangapalli village, Yadagirigutta mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Tuesday.
According to the mother of the deceased and car driver, Macha Mallesham and his wife Saraswati are natives of Venkiryala village, Jangaon mandal. Their three-month-old son Revanth became sick and they took him to a private hospital in Jangaon on Tuesday. After testing him, the doctors recommended the parents to take him to Hyderabad for better treatment.
On their way to Hyderabad along with the child, police stopped their car near Vangapalli village as part of inspection of vehicle challans. Police told them that a challan of Rs 1,000 was pending on their car and will allow after paying the amount only.
Victims said the police didn’t heed to their requests that they were going to get treatment to their sick child. They said that it took half an hour to pay the challan and then left for Hyderabad. They noticed there were no movements in the boy when they reached Tarnka, Hyderabad and doctors of a hospital confirmed that the boy died half an hour ago.
The victims lamented that their son might have been alive if only they reached the hospital on time.
Meanwhile, Yadagirigutta traffic CI Saidaiah said that they will never stop vehicles going in medical emergency. Not only that, in such cases, we will shift them in our own vehicles, he added.
