Two held in Chennai couple murder case in AP
Chennai, May 9: The Andhra Pradesh police have arrested the two accused – domestic help-cum-driver and his friend – in a Chennai-based couple’s murder case in Ongole on Saturday.
Immediately Chennai police alerted their counterparts of Andhra Pradesh, following which Prakasam district SP Malika Garg alerted the entire district police. During vehicle checking, police caught the duo at Tangutur Toll Plaza. Later, police handed over the accused, valuables and the car to Chennai police on Sunday.
According to police, Srikanth (60) and his wife Anuradha (55) were living in Mylapur in Chennai. After their security guard Lal Kishan returned to Nepal due to health issues, his son Lal Krishna has been working as driver cum domestic help for the past 11 years.
Recently the couple went to US to meet their daughter Sunanda, who gave birth to a baby. They returned to Chennai on Saturday early morning. Lal Krishna received them at Chennai airport. While going home, he picked up his friend, Ravi Roy of West Bengal.
Soon after coming home, the duo allegedly killed the couple and robbed gold and silver ornaments. They buried the bodies at the farm house of Srikanth and escaped from there.
Meanwhile, the couple’s daughter Sunanda alerted her cousin, who lives in Chennai, when her parents didn’t respond to her call. The cousin along with her husband went to the house and found it locked. She alerted Sunanda and the police which led to investigation.
