High Court gives an earful to Telangana Govt on farmers' suicides
Hyderabad, Dec 22, 2014: The High Court on Monday questioned the Telangana Government why it s not taking steps to prevent suicides of farmers in the state.
Responding to two petitions seeking a direction to the government to probe farmers' suicides and pay compensation to the affected families, the High Court asked the Government in an angry tone : " Why has the Government closed its eyes to farmers' suicides while it is paying hefty amounts to celebrities?"
The apex court of the state has directed the Telangana government to submit a report in two weeks on the suicides of farmers. " We will go ahead with further hearing when you submit the reprot," the court told the Government counsel.
