CM Jagan directs officials to ramp up additional thermal power production by 1,600 MW

Amaravati, May 4: As the demand increased for power due to heat wave in summer, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday held a review meeting with officials of the Energy Department at Tadepalli camp office.

The CM enquired with the officials about total electricity generation capacity in the state and demand for power in the peak hours. He also asked them regarding the purchase of electricity in open market to meet power demand. They told the CM that they are continuing power holiday for industries two days in a week.

Jagan instructed officials to ensure no power outages for households. To overcome shortage of electricity, he directed them to ramp up 800 MW each additional thermal power production at Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS) and Krishnapatnam Thermal Power Plant at the earliest by installing two units. People in majority states in India are experiencing power outages because of low coal stocks at thermal power units.
