Tension prevails on Andhra-Odisha border as farmers stop egg-laden lorries

Visakhapatnam: Tension prevailed along the Andhra-Odisha border on Wednesday. Odisha farmers intercepted a lorry carrying a load of eggs from Andhra Pradesh. Odisha farmers stuck to their guns stating they will not allow eggs from their neighbouring State into their State. As a result, more than 200 lorries carrying eggs from Andhra Pradesh came to a standstill.

It is a well-known fact that egg prices across the country are very low in the wake of summer. The situation in Odisha is even worse. At the same time, as always, if the eggs come into the state from Andhra Pradesh, Odisha farmers claim that the price of their eggs will fall further.

Odisha farmers feel that if eggs from Andhra Pradesh are not allowed into their state in this order, they will get some relief. For this reason, alert Odisha farmers on the border stopped the egg-laden lorries. Therefore, hundreds of vehicles were stranded there much to the chagrin of drivers carrying the load.
