Scuffle ensues between police and TDP leader's followers over a flexi

Amaravati: Tensions prevailed in the Palnadu area of Andhra Pradesh on Monday when some of the followers of TDP senior leader and former MLA Yerpathineni Srinivasa Rao doused their bodies with kerosene in protest against the highhandedness of the police.

To celebrate the birthday of their leader, which falls on April 13, his followers put up a flexi ahead of the celebrations. On seeing the flexi, the municipal authorities of Piduguralla issued orders to the followers of Yerpathineni to remove the cutout. But, they did not respond. With this, the municipal authorities, along with the police forces, tried to remove the flexi.

On receiving information, followers of the TDP leader reached there and blocked the police and municipal officers. On the occasion, a fierce scuffle ensued between the two groups. In the meantime, some of his followers douse their bodies with kerosene and they threatened to light their bodies if they did not move from there. Tempers ran high there over the unexpected incident.
