ISRO successfully launches human crew module through GSLV Mark-III

Sullurupet (Nellore), Dec 18, 2014: As a prelude to sending humans into outer space, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully test launched its crew module through GSLV Mark-3 this morning from its Sri Hari Kota Space Center. GSLV-MARk III , weighing around 630. 58 tones , carried into space a crew module weighing about 3735 kg with a height of 43.43 meters. The module was built with a cost of Rs. 155 Cr . Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the ISRO scientists for their efforts in making the advance space research experiment a grand success. "Successful launch of GSLV Mk-III is yet another triumph of brilliance & hard work of our scientists. Congrats to them for the efforts, " Modi has tweeted congratulating the team involved in the experiment. The human crew module experiment is destined to take the Indian space research program to a new level. ISRO tested the launch to ascertain its strength to send humans into outer space in future. The crew module is a room where in some astronauts can sit and operate during their space journey. The crew module, dropped into the Bay of Bengal by the GSLV Mark III rocket through parachutes, will be collected later by the ISRO teams.
