Govt clarifies aadhar not mandatory for LPG subsidy
Hyderabad, Dec 16: The Union government has once again cleared the doubts of LPG gas cylinder customers on the issue of subsidy. The government has made it clear that Aadhar number is not mandatory for transfer of subsidy amount of LPG cylinder.
It also clarified that the option of providing a bank account is also available under the direct benefit transfer of LPG (DBTL).
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has stated in the Lok Sabha that consumers can avail the subsidy scheme by two means, i.e. either giving details of Aadhar number or gas consumer number to bank asking them to link to their bank account.
Secondly, giving the bank account number to gas agency will also serve the purpose of availing subsidy.
