Strange fish found in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: Strange fish was found in the Srikakulam district when some farmers were fishing in the Narayanapuram right bank canal. The villagers, who considered the fish dangerous, killed and buried it. The villagers say they have never seen this kind of fish with black colour and white stripes on it.

The villagers noticed that it was trying to fly with the help of its wings. Rajam Fisheries Inspector Venkatesh said that it belongs to catfish species known as the Amazon Sailfin, also known as the lizard fish.

This fish has a mouth at the bottom, which can survive on land for at least 15 to 30 days without water. He said that if this type of fish enters the ponds, it will eat the small fish, which will cause serious damage to the pond owners. He suggested that it should not be consumed as it is a poisonous fish
