TS to set up 2 more House panels to probe land issues
Hyderabad, Nov 27: Telangana government on Thursday has agreed to set up two more Legislative House Committees to investigate irregularities in several housing societies and to look into Wakf properties across the state.
Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and four other MLAs raised the issue in the Assembly on Thursday through a Call Attention Motion when they urged the government to look into the irregularities in the Jubilee Hills and Film Nagar Housing Societies and the Wakf land.
Akbaruddin stated that several government inquiries had clearly established that large-scale irregularities were committed by the societies over the years.
Demanding a judicial probe into the affairs of the societies, the MIM leader said, "The previous governments shielded the guilty and no action was taken against them. I demand that the present government immediately scrap those societies and appoint special officers."
Meanwhile, TRS legislators wanted a House Committee to investigate the irregularities in the societies and bring the guilty to book.
In response to this, the Chief Minister said '80 bundles of files' on these were available with the government.
He then agreed to the constitution of a House Committee to probe the housing societies' affairs.
Congress leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka then demanded the House Committee should also probe the irregularities in the Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers' Housing Society.
The CM accepted the suggestion and said that the affairs of all housing societies in the 10 districts of Telangana will be probed by the Committee.
