Oldest married couple in the world is of Indian origin

London, Nov 26: A couple of Indian origin, both over 100 years old and reported to be the world's oldest partners, celebrated their joint birthdays with four generations of their family this week in the United Kingdom, reports said. The couple, who got married almost 89 years ago on December 11, 1925 in India as teenagers observed their birthdays on Sunday, reports said on Wednesday. The two married the same year Stanley Baldwin was British prime minister and Margaret Thatcher was born, reports said. Karam Chand, turned 109, which his wife turned 102 on the same day. They spent the day with four generations of their family at their home in Bradford, UK. When he was young, Karam worked as a mill worker. He smokes one cigarette a day before his evening meal. He also gulps down a lot of whisky or brandy, at least three or four times in a week.
