Defection issue: IT minister snubs DS in Council

Hyderabad, Nov 24: The issue of defection become a bone of contention between ruling party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti, and the opposition parties in the Telangana legislative council here on Monday. Raising the issue of defections in the council, senior Congress party legislator D Srinivas has appealed to the Chairman of council to take up a discussion of the subject and after discussion to initiate necessary action against those defecting to other parties. Replying to the opposition on the issue, IT minister KT Rama Rao said that the Chairman had already made a ruling on the issue and therefore raising the defection issue repeatedly is undemocratic. Legislative council Chairman Swamy Goud also expressed the same view. Later, Telangana Telugu Desam Party MLAs met the legislative assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary at his chambers and requested him to immediately disqualify those MLAs who have defected to other parties. In this connection, the TTDP legislators had decided to submit a written complaint to the Speaker later this evening.
