Cong, TRS leaders flay centre for naming air terminal after NTR
Hyderabad, Nov 21: Telangana Congress leaders have expressed their anger on the renaming of the domestic terminal at the Rajiv Gandhi International airport at Shamshabad as N T Rama Rao domestic terminal.
Speaking to media on Friday, former Congress minister DK Aruna said it is not wise to rename the domestic airport terminal after NTR replacing the name of Rajiv Gandhi. She said that Rajiv Gandhi has sacrificed his life for the country.
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reacted sharply on the issue in the Assembly on Friday. He said the domestic terminal should have been named after a Telangana leader.
He opined that the terminal should have been renamed after either Tribal leader Komaram Bheem, Minority leader Bhagya Reddy, or former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao . This is definitely an insult to Telangana, he added.
Later, Telangana Rashtra Samiti MLAs demand that the Centre should rename Visakhapatnam airport after PV Narasimha Rao.
Expressing their anger on the renaming of the domestic terminal airport at Shamshabad as N T Rama Rao domestic terminal, TRS MLAs on Friday said that it is an insult to Telangana people.
They demanded the Centre to rename Visakha airport after PV Narasimha Rao. Balyagi stadium, NTR stadium, Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Park in Hyderabad also should be renamed, they said.
