BJP, TDP enacting dramas on chilli row, TRS asks them to protest at PM’s residence
Hyderabad, May.10: TRS leader and SC Corporation Chairman Pidamarthi Ravi today launched a scathing attack on the Opposition parties for trying to create panic among chilli farmers, who are on warpath seeking procurement of their produce at minimum support price.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, Ravi suggested that the BJP and its ally Telugu Desam should stage cprotests at the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not coming to the rescue of chilli farmers, if they have commitment to farmers. “If the leaders of the BJP and TDP have guts, they should stop protest in Telangana State and instead take them up at Modi’s residence”, he suggested.
The Opposition parties, including Congress and other parties were trying to misguide and confuse the chilli farmers, he charged. They are making deliberate attempts to malign the image of the TRS government, which was paying them Rs 6,000 per quintal while the Centre offered only Rs 5,000 per quintal of chilli.
The Centre has miserably failed to tackle the issue, he fumed. “It is for the Centre to decide on the MSP for any commercial crop and the leaders at the helm of affairs were failing to take a call”, the TRS leader charged. The Opposition parties were hatching conspiracies in this regard for political mileage and they do not have any commitment, Ravi said. They must stop playing dramas to cause loss to chilli farmers and instead mount pressure on the Centre to resolve the issue, he added.
