NTR memorial award for Kalyanram
Nandamuri Kalyanram, son of Nandamuri Harikrishna, is not only an actor but also a producer. He launched his own banner and named it after his grandfather NTR Arts. He had produced some films in which he himself played the hero. He had produced a film (Kick-2) with Raviteja and it was proved a disaster. After that he had produced another film (Ism) in which he played the hero under the direction of Puri Jagannath and the film was also proved a big flop. In order to recover from the losses, he is now bankrolling a movie with his brother NT Rama Rao, titled Jai Lava Kusa, in which NTR is playing triple roles.
Meanwhile, Kalyanram was invited to the United States by the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) to take part in the launching of a special exhibition on legendary actor, the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Few other popular film personalities are also attending the programme. In this connection, a gesture by Kalyanram had floored the TANA organisers. It is the usual practice for the TANA organisers to bear the flight charges and other expenses of the guests who were invited by them to take part in the TANA celebrations.
However, Kalyanram reportedly refused this formality and said that he would spend on his own and attend the function. Instead of spending money for his expenses, he advised them to spend it for the education of some poor Indian students there. TANA organisers happily agreed to do so. By the way, Kalyanram will be awarded the NTR memorial award during the event.
