Heritage Bill to protect historic monuments: CM KCR

Hyderabad, April.16: Telangana State Assembly today passed the Heritage Structures Protection Bill. Speaker S Madhusudana Chary announced passage of the bill after it was introduced by Tribal Welfare Minister Ajmeera Chandulal.

While tabling the bill, the minister spoke on the urgent need for protecting the heritage structures in the State and the government wanted  to take measures to protect the numerous historical buildings and heritage structures in the State.

During his brief talk, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao alleged that previous governments neglected the heritage structures in the State. Previously Heritage Structures Protection Bill was caught in quagmire, he opined. He stressed the need for protecting the historical structures and monuments as the time changes. Now, the TRS Government has determined to protect the same through the bill to protect the historic assets of these structures for future generations, he said.
It is pertinent to note that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao revealed his mind in this regard during Cabinet briefing a few days ago. The State Government wants to protect these historical monuments and allot funds in the budget for regular maintenance and upkeep and take up beautification works simultaneously to attract more tourists that will increase income.
