Suriya to play Gemini Ganeshan’s role in ‘Mahanati’

Keerthi Suresh has got an opportunity to play the role of legendary actress of yesteryears ‘Savitri’. A biopic based on the life history of Savitri titled ‘Mahanati’ is being brought out by Nag Ashwin. The film is sure to hit floors soon and Samantha is going to play the role of Jamuna, the co-actress of Savitri. Now, many doubted as to who will get the opportunity to play the role of Savitri’s husband – Gemini Ganeshan.

According to the latest buzz, the director Nag Ashwin reportedly met popular hero Suriya and appealed to do the role and he readily accepted to do the role. It may be recalled here that Savitri is not only popular heroine in Telugu but also in Tamil as well. So, the film could be brought down as a bilingual and for this, Suriya would be a major plus point. However, there are apprehensions that the character of Savitri husband will have some negative shades. But Suriya did not object to do the role and agreed to play the role. According to Film Nagar sources, the film is most likely to hit the floors soon and will be ready to hit the screen by the end of this year.
