TS has spent Rs 2,500 cr in 4 months to buy power

Hyderabad, Nov 12: Telangana Irrigation Minister Harish Rao informed the state assembly that the government had spent Rs 2,500 crore to purchase power in the last four months. Giving further details on the power crisis afflicting the state, the minister said his government was making serious efforts to convert Telangana into a power surplus state. For this purpose, he said if necessary his government was willing to import coal. He also indicated that the government was trying to establish power generation units in the Godavari Basin area. He also informed the House that efforts are also on to rope in all the parties and bring pressure on the central government to help the state tide over its power crisis.
