Row over Heritage milk, Revanth Reddy demands apology
Hyderabad, Nov 12: Legislators belonging to Telugu Desam Party and Telangana Rashtra Samithi clashed over the quality of Heritage milk in the Telangana assembly on Wednesday.
The whole problem started during the Question Hour when TRS legislator Ravinder Reddy brought to the notice of the government the issue of a ban on Heritage milk in Kerala as it contained excess amount of formalin, a chemical that could cause cancer.
Responding on the issue, Telangana Health Minister Dr. Thatikonda Rajaiah confirmed that the issue has come to the government's notice.
He then went on to say that the government was collecting and checking the quality of the milk products of the Heritage dairy as per the parameters listed out in the Food Quality Protection Act.
He further said due action will be taken if excess amount of formalin was found in the milk of the dairy company, owned by the family of Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu.
Immediately, TDP legislators protested and raised objections to these statements.
TDP leader Revanth Reddy criticised the TRS members saying that what will people consuming alcohol in farm houses know about the taste of milk.
Reventh Reddy went on to clarify that Kerala government had actually lifted the ban on Heritage milk.
Immediately, Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao said TDP legislators were behaving as if they were either the directors of Heritage Dairy or as members of the company board.
Following which there was pandamonium in the House. TDP leader Revanth Reddy then demanded an apology from KTR.
